Wrestling shoes are types of footwear that are specially made for wrestlers. Wrestling shoes differ from regular shoes because they come with designs that mimic the bare foot along with features that provide great traction. Wrestling shoes are also built to support the ankles with high lace-ups and thick toe supports to avoid injuring someone with one’s toenails.

Tips on choosing wrestling shoes

The following are some factors you need to consider when purchasing wrestling shoes.

Size
Most brand new wrestling shoes come in sizes that are a size larger than regular shoe sizes. When shopping for wrestling shoes, it is important that you do the fitting with both feet to make sure that the shoes are comfortable. Most shoes usually stretch and expand after a few days of use, so make sure that your wrestling shoes are snug and tight enough when you buy.

Traction
Wrestling shoes are designed to give your feet a firm grip, but not all wrestling shoes are made the same when it comes to their ability to provide great traction. A good choice is a pair of shoes that come with studded soles made of gum rubber. The split sole also provides better traction than the non-split sole. However, non-split soles tend to last longer.

Comfort
Your wrestling shoes should be comfortable. A little padding is enough to provide a comfortable cushion for the feet. Too much padding can lead to losing sensitivity to the floor mat.

Level of activity
Your level of skill and activity as a wrestler would also matter when choosing a wrestling shoe. There are wrestling shoes made for beginner, intermediate, and professional wrestlers. You should choose the right kind of shoes that fits your level of expertise. Beginner wrestling shoes are often less expensive than wrestling shoes for professionals. If you are on a tight budget, try looking for used wrestling shoes online or at discount retail stores. Wrestling shoes made of synthetic fabric are durable enough for intermediate wrestlers and are cheaper than leather wrestling shoes. Although leather wrestling shoes may cost you more, they are more comfortable and usually last longer.

Brand
Most brands of footwear also have a line of wrestling shoes for wrestlers. If you are brand conscious, brands such as Adidas, Nike, ASICS, and Brute have good lines of wrestling shoes made of quality materials, which are designed for maximum comfort, breathability, and durability.

Women’s and men’s work shoes complete an outfit that is meant to impress bosses and co-workers: this is why work shoes should be chosen with the same amount of care as with office wardrobes. Office workers have many options for work shoes to choose from. Depending on the office policy, women can wear anything from sandals to sling backs and pumps, while loafers or saddle shoes will work for best men.

Who wears work shoes

Office workers, coal miners, firefighters, and virtually any other type of worker whose work involves danger and hazards require the safety provided by work shoes. The regular work shoes often have waterproof uppers to protect the feet from moisture and stains. Specialized work shoes for various occupations have steel toes (i.e. for construction workers) that prevent the toes from nasty bumps, rubber soles (i.e. for electrical workers) for prevention of nasty electrical shocks, and rubberized work shoes for fishermen that may reach as high as the waist to protect the feet and the whole lower body from moisture. Steel workers also have specialized shoes that protect their feet from molten metal and other hazards. Medical workers, on the other hand, typically wear ultra-light work shoes with solid insole support for long periods of standing. These work shoes are often made of washable plastic polymers. Those who work in offices and banks often wear dress shoes. Most offices require closed dress shoes, as open-toed dress shoes may not give the right support and may look unprofessional.

How to care for your work shoes

You can care for your work shoes the same way you do with your other shoes. For dress shoes made of leather and suede, you typically need to apply water-resistant solutions before cleaning them. There are also special cleaning solutions made for rubber, suede, leather, and other types of shoe materials that you can get from your local shoe or department store. It is important that you do not clean your shoes with detergent or any other cleaning agent because it may ruin the shoes’ finish.

Store leather shoes away from damp or very high temperatures to avoid molds, unpleasant smells, or cracks. Leather can become brittle when exposed to sunlight for long periods. The same is true for rubber. Regular use of rubber shoes is a must. If you keep rubber shoes in storage for long periods of time, the soles tend to harden and crack, making the user prone to accidental slips and falls.

Women’s shoes came out roughly the same time men started to wear footwear. Ancient Egyptian women wore sandals, and so did Roman ladies. By 15th century, shoes with high heels, or chopines, were invented to protect the hem of the wearer’s clothing from mud and dirt. During the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, narrower-heeled shoes became popular for women and were especially known for being their decorations of laces and ribbons. By 18th century, women were wearing highly-decorated leather and silk shoes with arches. Slippers fastened by ribbons were all the rage during the Victorian era, with cloth boots featuring elastic side panels for outdoor walking. Now, women’s shoes come in all sorts of designs, from the classic to the outlandish, and can be made of almost anything from leather to high-tech plastic polymers.

Where to buy women’s shoes

You can buy women’s shoes from department stores, shoe boutiques at the mall, online shoe trailers and even through garage sales and flea markets. Department stores are your best choice if you want affordable shoes that you can fit and buy right away. For convenience, you can buy shoes online, which has the advantage of having a lot of styles, brands, and sizes to choose from. Online purchases do not come with the additions for mall rental and service fees. However, they usually take a few days to arrive, and in some instances, you have to pay for the shipping. For unique, vintage but cheap finds head for the flea market or scour garage sales.

Tips on buying women’s shoes

The first and most important thing to look for when buying women’s shoes is a good fit. To do this, shop for shoes in the afternoon, because this is when your feet is at its largest size. Try on both shoes to make sure that no shoe is too tight. Some women may have feet that are slightly different in sizes, and a shoe that fits well on the left foot may not fit as well on the right. Your shoe size could change from time to time, so check the measurement of your foot before heading to the shoe store.

Make sure that there is no pinching at the toes and at the heels by leaving about an inch of space between the toes and the shoe tip. Finally, do not scrimp on shoes that you will use on a day-to-day basis. Look for shoes that use good materials. Sturdy shoes are often backed with a leather lining and triple or double stitching for extra durability.

Feet come in all shapes and sizes. You will find that there a people who have long, narrow feet, while others have short, wide feet. Shoes should therefore be made to accommodate the variety of shapes and sizes those feet come in. If you have wide feet, here are some important thing you need to know about wide shoes and how to shop for them.

Who wears wide shoes

Wide shoes are made for naturally wide feet, for people with diabetes, those who are morbidly obese, or those who suffering from painful foot problems such as hammertoe and bunions. Wide shoes are also worn by people who are too large or too tall, as these people also tend to have larger feet. People suffering from growth hormone or bone problems that caused them to have large feet also benefit from wearing wide shoes.

Where to find wide shoes

Most people find shopping for wide shoes difficult. This is because some stores do not stock wide shoes. When shopping for wide shoes, you can try the local department store or mall boutiques. If you are lucky, you may find a shoe store that carries wide shoes. You can usually identify wide shoes by the large W on the box. If not, ask the salesperson if they have any stock of wide shoes. You can also head to big and tall shops, stores that cater to customers who are heavier, larger, or taller than the average customer.

Wide shoes come in a variety of designs and styles so it won’t be hard to find a pair of wide shoes that will fit for formal, casual, or outdoor uses. Another great idea is to ask your orthopedist for recommendations on where you can have custom made wide shoes. People with very large shoes and those with abnormal foot structure that make them unable to use normal shoes will benefit from having custom made shoes to fit their specific physical condition.

Another alternative is the Internet, where you will surely find an infinite array of wide shoe options to choose from. However, make sure that your online vendor has a clear return policy in case you do not feel comfortable on the shoes that you just bought. Also check for the shipping costs and other hidden fees, and make sure that your online vendor has a good reputation in the online business community.

Wholesale shoes are sold way cheaper than shoes in retail stores, and they often come with additional discounts the more shoes you buy. You can buy wholesale shoes online or offline, although you must exercise extra caution when buying wholesale shoes from the Internet.

Who buys wholesale shoes

You might be surprised that most women buy wholesale shoes for their personal use. Some women actually do this because shoes are cheaper when they are bought in bulk. However, a lot of buyers of wholesale shoes are business owners, people who operate shoe stores online or offline. You will also find other sellers of shoes who buy their stocks from offline shoe manufacturers.

Tips on buying wholesale shoes

It is true that you can get purchases of wholesale shoes at a discount. However, this usually comes if you buy at the minimum that’s set by the wholesaler. Wholesalers often set the minimum at a dozen to a hundred pairs before they give you a discount, so be prepared to buy lots of pairs if you consider buying wholesale shoes.

Some wholesalers only deal with trade buyers. This means that they only sell to those who own a shoe retail business. They may ask customers for a trade registration certificate or proof of other wholesale purchases before they can buy. If you plan on using your shoe purchases personally, choose wholesale shoe sellers who cater to private individuals. Small wholesale operations are your best bet. Most of these sell to private individuals and are easier to build business ties with compared to large wholesale operations.
Before buying, check the range of shoe sizes on your order. Wholesalers usually sell shoes by box, with about 18 pairs per box. Check the sizes of the contents before buying because you do not want to be stuck with sizes that are hard to sell.

Where to buy wholesale shoes

You can buy wholesale shoe offline from your local wholesalers, this way you also get to save on shipping costs. If you are looking to buy certain styles and designs that you cannot get from your local wholesalers, you can opt for online wholesalers. Most online wholesalers have a limit on the minimum of shoes you can buy. Some also sell other items such as bags and clothing. There are some shopping sites that offer the best wholesale finds and do not require a reseller license or even a minimum purchase.

Wedge shoes are shoes with thick heels that run from the back of the foot to the middle or the front. It is a common misconception that all wedges are high, but this is not always so. A wedge shoe is determined by the wedge-shaped heel, not the height of the heel. In some cases some wedge heels can be as low as an inch, while others can reach up to five or six inches of heel.

Wedge shoes are often confused with platform shoes, although the two are very different. Wedge heels are often triangular in shape and are usually made of wood or hard plastic, while platforms can be made of plastic, cork, rubber, or wood and have the heels separated from the heel of the shoes. Wedge shoes offer a greater deal of support than most stiletto shoes, but when the wedge is too high the wearer may also be in danger of tripping or falling out of balance.

Shopping for wedge shoes

When shopping for wedge shoes, you need to determine the height that you feel comfortable with, your desired material and fit, and the quality of workmanship done on the shoes. Wedge shoes often give out this worldly and sophisticated look to an outfit, which is why it is important that you get wedge shoes made of high quality, durable material such as leather. With the popularity of plastic shoes and other material today, it is also common to find wedge shoes made of fake leather, plastic, and clear, hard plastic wedge heels.

Wedges can be low length, mid length. or high length, and it is up to you to choose what length you are comfortable walking in. To do this, walk a few steps forward and back with the wedge heels, and see if you are comfortable with them. Your choice should have excellent side support as well as a good toe traction and insole support, especially if you opt for higher heels.

Wedge shoes and style

Some women may wonder what clothes go well with wedge shoes. It is true that wedge shoes may not look great with any kind of outfit. However, wedge shoes can be attractively paired with the following:

Floral, girly skirts

Bohemian skirts

Peasant skirts and dresses

Wrap dresses

Flared pants

Gauchos

Because wedge shoes made of leather with wooden heels can look classy yet casual, they can be worn at the office, paired with classic slacks or wide jeans. Wedge shoes are not particularly suited for very narrow pants and other tight-fitting clothing. Capris and pencil skirts may also not work too well when paired with wedge-heeled shoes.

Water shoes are footwear specifically made for water activities such as swimming, kayaking, and pretty much any other exercise, with the feet bound to get wet. Water shoes come in all sizes, with hard sole to protect the wearer from sharp rocks, mussels, and sea urchins that one is bound to come across in the water.
Even when you are just planning on playing near the water, water shoes are still a pretty good alternative to going barefoot.

Water shoes look like your ordinary hiking shoes, but they are usually made of a mesh fabric designed to protect your feet in the water. Most water shoes do not keep the water out but most are designed with a quick-drying mesh upper to keep your feet as dry as possible. Today, water shoes made of a special lightweight plastic polymer are also becoming very popular.

Shopping tips for water shoes

Water shoes vary in design and purpose. Your activity is one consideration when buying a pair of water shoes. If you are shopping for water shoes for boating and kayaking, avoid models with long straps and laces that could easily get tangled in the boat or the kayak. For kayaking, you can use flexible foot booties for easier movement in and out of the boat. For casual walks on the beach, you can opt for the more fashion-forward water shoes that will protect your pedicure as well as protect your feet from cuts. Water shoes designed for top athletic performance in the water now come in bold, fashionable colors and designs, with a quick drying mesh and superb traction. There are even water shoes reminiscent of summer sandals designed with a sturdy toe cap to protect the toes from stubs against corals and rocks.

If cost is one consideration, you can opt for sandals made of lightweight plastic polymers. These are lighter but provide the same amount of protection given by traditional water shoes. They are also less expensive and come in an infinite array of colors to suit any color of beach wear.

Caring for water shoes

Rinse your water shoes with freshwater after every use, and keep them dry. Also, keep your shoes away from the direct heat of the sunlight to prevent them from cracking. You can also apply a water repellant solution to seal out moisture while letting the material breathe at the same time.

Walking shoes are the everyday footwear choice for most people, right next to flip flops if you live in a warm country. For the most part, most people prefer walking shoes than any other form of footwear because they protect the feet, they are comfortable and durable.

Shopping tips for walking shoes

Here are some general tips that you will find helpful when shopping for walking shoes.

Quality
Do not scrimp on quality when shopping for shoes. This means that you do no necessarily have to buy the most expensive pair -— just get a pair that speaks of good workmanship and material. You may not find shoes like this at rock bottom prices but most quality shoes are still affordable. Quality is very important if you want your shoes to last.

Support
Support means that the walking shoes must have a low supportive heel that rounds in, as opposed to a thick heel which predisposes you to sore shins. You also need a flexible outsole, a comfortable, sturdy insole, along with more bend in the toe for a tight grip when walking.

Great fit
A great fit for walking shoes means about a thumb’s width between the tips of your toes and the end of the shoe. Your toes should have ample space to wiggle in. To do this, shop later in the day when your feet has expanded to their largest size.

Style
If you are concerned about making your shoes fit the rest of your wardrobe, you won’t have trouble finding stylish walking shoes. Walking shoes can be paired with almost anything casual. If you like the classic pair of jeans and white tee, you can easily find walking shoes in grays, blacks, browns, or navy blues to will go well with most of your casual walking outfits.

When to replace walking shoes

Walking shoes have a definite lifespan. Experts say that you need to find brand new replacements after 500 miles or so, because this is often when the protective cushion of the shoes is broken down completely. If you walk regularly, 500 miles can roughly translate to about 3 to 6 months.

If you are into buying discount walking shoes, you must keep in mind that most discount shoes are sold at lower prices because they have been on the shelf for too long. This means that you could be getting a brand new or old stock of shoes that are aging slowly. Old stocks of shoes tend to have cracked heels, hardened rubber, and cracked finishes due to storage. If you want the most mileage out of your walking shoes, buy current, brand new models.

Trendy shoes were most likely born during the Renaissance, when French nobles, with the leadership of Louis XIV, started to wear shoes decorated with battle scenes and heels that were several inches high. Now, trendy shoes are a girl’s best friend, and no look will ever be complete without a nice pair of trendy shoes. Trendy shoes add spice to any wardrobe, and the best thing is that you can buy trendy shoes, new or used, at almost any price.

Where to shop for trendy shoes

If you think that only upscale retail shoe outlets are the only places where you can buy trendy shoes, think again. If you know your fashion and trends, you can scour flea markets, garage sales, and vintage stores for great bargain finds of trendy shoes that are still trendy enough to jazz up the rest of your outfit. For the sake of convenience, you also have the department stores and mall boutiques.
In these tough times, you can still save from trendy footwear that you get in discount shops and vintage stores. You can also buy trendy shoes online. Aside from the online outlets of most shoe retailers, virtual garage sale and vintage e-stores also exist on the Internet.

Trendy shoes and style

If you are not sure what shoes are the trend for this season is, no worries. You have a lot of resources online for various tips on what shoes are great for this year. Once you have done your research, you can head over to your favorite online or offline store and start shopping.

Knowing your trendy shoes, however, does not necessarily translate to knowing which trendy shoes will work for you. A certain type of shoe trend may not compliment your body type. For example, when narrow shoes are the rage, women with thick, heavyset bodies, stubby and short or very long, thin legs, and wide feet find it difficult to wear these shoes. So better yet, choose a pair of shoes that will compliment your legs and will give comfort and good support when walking. Even shoes that are not in fashion right now will still look good when worn properly.

Some shoes fit better with some types of wardrobes. For example, you can pair boots with jeans and a T-shirt. Some women can pull off a pair of boots with a floral print dress, but if you think this will not work for you, look for another outfit. If you have doubts about the kind of outfit a pair of trendy shoes will look good with, get some inspiration from magazines or ask your saleslady for help.

Training shoes or trainers are shoes used for active outdoor activities such as running. Trainers have been around for about 100 years or so. The earliest trainers were reportedly made at around the 18th century, when people started to develop interest in running. During the 19th century the all-leather spiked shoe came out for the need for shoes that can grip the ground and give good traction while running. It was during the 1800s when manufacturers started to attach rubber soles to shoes. Croquet players during this time were using rubber-soled shoes with canvas uppers. Because the rubber reduced the noise the feet made when walking, the shoes ultimately became known as sneakers.

From the mid to late 1800s, spiked shoes for running became increasingly popular. The modern sneaker was soon introduced to the US in 1917, the same year that a higher boot shoes for basketball players were introduced by Converse. The real training shoes did not come out until Adolf Dassler, known as the father of the modern running shoes, introduced new designs and materials. Great runners such as Jesse Owens wore his shoes, which he began to make in the 1920s. Dassler designed his trainers using surplus canvas and rubber salvaged from fuel tanks. It was Adolf Dassler who founded Addidas, which was later split to form Addas, renamed to Addidas, and Puma.

Choosing training shoes

With so many choices, it can be hard to find the right pair of trainers. You need to know what you are going to be using your trainers for. Trainers can be light or heavy, and are constructed for light to moderate physical activity. They are designed to support your feet when running, preventing knee injuries that usually come from the constant pounding on hard surfaces like pavement when you jog. Heavy trainers are larger and can be used for long-distance running, suitable for serious runners or those planning to join a marathon. Light trainers offer a middle ground between those who want the support of heavy trainers but the weight of light trainers, which is important for those who want more speed when running.

Where to buy training shoes

For a good fit and to get the right trainer shoes, avoid general stores and head for the specialty sportswear stores where the staff is trained in helping you pick out which shoe will fit your type of activity and the needs of your feet.
