As the name suggests, children shoes are types of footwear specifically designed for children, and for people who have feet smaller than those of adults. Like adult shoes, children shoes also come in various types, styles, designs and sizes. Some shoes are only for boys, others are only for girls, while others can be used by both boys and girls.

Children shoes come in casual, dress, athletic or sports, school, dance, and orthopedic varieties. Depending on children’s needs and preferences, there are lots of children shoes that they can choose from.

Since children’s feet are smaller than adult’s, the standard sizes of children shoes are different from adult shoes. Children shoes are smaller versions of shoes worn by adults. For example, there are sneakers, doll shoes, and loafers for children just as there are for adults.

Usually, children are not as particular as adults are when it comes to shoes, though they may want to have as many pairs. It is important for you to check if your child’s shoes are still working for him or her once in a while. Check if they are still in good shape and if they’re still comfortable enough for your child’s feet so you would know if there’s a need for replacement.

When buying children shoes, be sure to bring your child so he or she can approve of the size and style. If your child is not interested in shopping for shoes, then choose a shop that specializes in children shoes. Its staff members are likely to be good in dealing with kids. Evening or late in the afternoon is the best time to shop for shoes because that’s when the feet are swollen or at its maximum size.

Getting quality shoes for your child is good, but it’s best not to overspend on children shoes. Children’s feet grow faster than adults’ and before you know it, your child may have already outgrown his or her shoes. Instead, choose shoes that are strong, durable, and comfortable. Kids love to play and they usually engage in physical activities, that’s why it is important to choose shoes that can support these activities.

The right fit is also important. But since children’s feet grow more quickly, some allowance would be useful. About half an inch from the shoe toe edge would be good. It would also help to bring socks that your child usually wears when fitting.

Watch out for toe crunching when your child is fitting the shoes. Let them walk or run wearing them to make sure the shoes are comfortable.
