Ladies’ Shoes
Shoes have been around shortly after man realized that he can walk, and first originated from an item that protected the feet to one that is bought as much as for walking as for fashionable purposes. Now, shoes come in all shapes and sizes and are a crucial part of any fashionable wardrobe.
Ladies’ shoes: a short history
The earliest known pair of shoes were found in Oregon, USA and were dated to be from 8000 to 7000 BCE. Shoes in the Middle Ages were called turn-shoes, made of leather with drawstrings used to tighten the shoes around the feet. When Europe gained power and wealth, extravagantly and intricately designed shoes became status symbols, worn only by the wealthy. Shoes with unique designs were worn by both men and women who can afford them. Shoes only began to be used by the majority of the population with the advent of mass production.
Choosing ladies’ shoes
Girls know that looking for shoes is nothing like grocery shopping. For some, shoe shopping can take an entire day. However, buying shoes is not rocket science. All you need to remember is that the shoes you buy must complement your wardrobe, must have a price that fits your budget, and most importantly, must be comfortable.
Walking shoes in neutral colors such as beige, grays, and even browns can be used for any day with any kind of wardrobe. Navy for walking shoes is also a good color. White shoes are good for summer and spring wardrobes. Comfort is your main priority when looking for walking shoes. Leather or rubber with sturdy insoles and good, flexible support can be determined by taking a few steps with the shoes when you are trying them out.
A good tip when buying shoes is to buy them in the afternoon, when your feet has had a chance to expand. This way, you are trying out the largest possible size of your feet. Add about half an inch of space allowance on the tip of the shoe to give your toes some breathing room.
Where to buy ladies’ shoes
For ease and convenience, the department stores or the specialty stores at the mall is your best bet for good shoes, whether you are looking for casual or dress shoes. Most shoe boutiques offer a good selection of dress shoes that will go well with a cocktail dress or an evening gown.
