Jordan Shoes

Jordan Shoes are named after Michael Jordan, who is also known as Air Jordan. The shoes are also referred to as Jordans, Air Jordans, MJs, Js, or Jays. This brand refers to the line of shoes that was produced by shoe manufacturer Nike and is endorsed by Michael Jordan. This collection is now solely under the Jordan Brand, which is still under Nike. From its launch in 1984, new designs are added each year even after Jordan left the basketball courts.

Classification of Air Jordan shoes

Jordan Shoes may be classified by the year they were introduced to the market and the model. The models may be Original, Retros, player Exclusive, Retro plusses, and Samples. The Jordan Brand now also includes team shoes in addition to the Air Jordans.

The history of Jordan shoes

Before the Jordan shoes were launched, Nike was experiencing problems with the sales of its footwear. It was just known as the “jogging brand for the white man.” The sales of Nike’s existing items continue to decline while it was having problems penetrating the field of basketball. The people behind Nike saw an opportunity in rookie basketball player Michael Jordan. They initially signed him for a five-year $2.5 million dollar contract to endorse the new line of shoes for Nike.

That was the beginning of Jordan shoes. The first Jordan shoes made a revolution in the basketball courts. While the earlier basketball shoes were white, the Air Jordan 1 is in black and red. The NBA banned the shoe. However, Michael Jordan continued to wear the pair, leading him to be fined by up to $5000 per game. Nike, of course, paid the fines and they got the exposure that they wanted. Due to Michael Jordan’s excellent playing performance during that year, Jordan Shoes gained more popularity, leading to more sales.

Since 1985, Jordan Shoes became one of the top brands of basketball shoes. As new Jordan Shoes design is introduced every year, the designers also take into consideration the life, career, ideas, and hobbies of Michael Jordan and incorporate these in the Jordan shoes designs.

The first Jordan shoes

The Jordan shoes that marked a controversy during Michael Jordan’s career were designed by Peter Moore and was released in 1985. It was a pair of sneakers in striking red and black colors, which caused Michael Jordan to be fined for the violation of the NBA uniform rules. However, other shoe companies followed this lead later on and created similar designs.
