Golf Shoes

Golf shoes are athletic shoes designed specifically for use in golf. They usually have cleats or spikes that allow for firm grip on wet and grassy grounds of golf courses. Originally made of metal, spikes of golf shoes nowadays are made of “softer” synthetic materials, which can be removed or replaced. These synthetic spikes, similar to plastics, have prongs on the edges. Some golf courses require these spikes to lessen damage to the fields.

Golf shoes help improve a golfer’s performance. Because of the cleats or spikes in golf shoes, sliding is avoided, especially when swinging the club.

Choosing golf shoes

If you are off to buy your first pair of golf shoes, be sure to consult experts or those who know a lot about golf and golf shoes. Try asking people in a golf shop or sporting goods store for the types and brands of golf shoes preferred by most experienced golfers. Ask them why those golfers prefer those types and brands and make your own assessment.

Though golf shoes with metal spikes have been used by golfers for years, a number of golf courses today no longer allow the use of metal spikes and cleats. Metal spikes provide strong grip on the course’ surface, but they are considered by some as dangerous. Most golf courses prefer the use of plastic prongs instead.

When it comes to the look or appearance, golf shoes look just like any other type of shoes. However, many people usually feel uncomfortable wearing them for the first time. Golf shoes require getting used to, but you can lessen the length of time it takes for you to “break into” the shoes by choosing golf shoes that are soft and supple. They are more comfortable, thus, it would be easier for you to get used to wearing them.

When fitting your golf shoes, leave some space at the front end. Also, choose golf shoes that have arch support. Waterproof golf shoes would help also a lot. Not only will they be beneficial when it suddenly drizzles, but they are also more durable since they resist possible damage caused by water and moisture. Golf courses are usually wet and moist in the morning because of morning dews and water from golf course sprinklers.

Be sure to provide proper care and maintenance to your golf shoes to make them last longer. IN cleaning them regularly, you get rid of organisms causing bacterial and fungal diseases.
