Baby shoes are special footwear items specially made for babies. Because they are made for babies, baby shoes are smaller, softer, lighter, and more flexible. Their main purpose is to protect the baby’s feet while keeping the baby comfortable.

History of baby shoes

Years ago, making babies wear shoes was such an absurd thing to do. Only babies from royal families could be seen with baby shoes. Today, however, shoes are important baby apparel both for protection and baby fashion.

Types of baby shoes

Even if they still couldn’t appreciate how gorgeous their footwear look, baby shoes come in various types and designs according to the types and designs of shoes for bigger or older people. They are smaller versions of shoes made for adults and other people with bigger feet.

There are athletic baby sneakers, little hiking boots, and tiny leather loafers. From casual baby shoes to very elegant and sophisticated ones, baby shoes come in several varieties for eager moms and dads to choose from. There are little doll shoes for baby girls and tiny sneakers for baby boys. Some baby shoes can even be customized to include the baby’s name.

Baby shoes come in three basic types based on their soles: those with soft leather soles, with smooth leather soles, and with rubber soles.

Why babies need baby shoes

Though shoes can really protect the babies’ feet from injuries, they don’t really need baby shoes until they’re ready to walk. Often, baby shoes are simply used for fashion or for show.

The best time these shoes can protect the baby’s feet is when the baby begins to roll, crawl, or scoot. Still, experts say that walking on barefoot helps babies master their balance, dexterity, and traction. But if you’re baby is trying to walk outdoors or on dirty ground, you might as well give him or her baby shoes that can prevent slipping or sliding.

Babies also need baby shoes to protect their feet from cold weather and cold grounds. They also protect the feet from any foreign object that can cause injuries on your baby’s feet, especially when he or she starts walking.

Choosing baby shoes

Babies who are not yet walking are best given baby shoes with soft soles. Those who are not yet walking would need a pair with rubber soles. The type of baby shoes that’s best for your baby depends on what your baby needs.
